US Congress Supports ‘Final’ Increase in Diesel Fuel Tax & ‘Federal AB-5’ Legislation Constricting Hire of Independent Contractors (Not Expected to Pass Senate)

1. There is Bi-Partisan support in Congress for another increase in the tax on diesel fuel prior to a discussion to change to some type of per mile scheme. (See Attached)

2. and 3. And the House of Representatives has approved both legislation ‘nationalizing’ California’s AB-5 Law (which constrains hiring of independent contractors), and another which would allow illegal immigrants to sue employers for back pay and damages if NLRB rules they’ve been harmed. Neither is expected to pass in the Republican-controlled Senate. (See Attached)
